SHOOT! Don’t neglect your marketing...

When you’re building a business, you should invest in learning about sales, because it’s an important pillar to business success.

And while knowing sales is important for a business, there’s one other thing you shouldn’t neglect.

And that is the ability to market properly.

If you neglect marketing for too long you’ll be shooting yourself in the foot.

And before we talk about why, let’s make the difference between sales and marketing clear.

Marketing is the act of getting people's attention.

And sales is the act of monetizing that attention.

Which means getting the people to buy your products.

Now that we’ve made it clear that both sales and marketing are important.

The real question is, “When should you do what?”.

And it’s a great question, so let’s talk about it.

Let’s imagine that the first thing you work on is sales.

You’d be good at selling (monetizing attention), but since you haven’t really captivated any attention, you don’t have much attention TO monetize.

And that’s when marketing comes in, by getting people’s attention and then monetizing it with your sales skills. The money will be flowing into your bank account.
